Moravian Instruments CMOS Cameras
Moravian Instruments present their new range of CMOS cameras. Currently available series are the C1, C1+ and C2. Soon there will be a C4 and a bit later a C3 series as well.
These cameras (C1, C1+ and C2) can be used for a wide range of imaging, planetary, moon, solar1 and deep sky imaging, however some versions would be more suitable for one task than the other. Within the C1 and C2 cameras there are also C1-...A and C2-...A versions that support only 12 bit digitisation, so these are a cheaper option for those aiming mostly at longer exposure imaging and only occasional planetary or moon imaging that demands faster frame rate... Those with a main aim of plannetary, lunar or solar1 imaging would consider one of the C1 series and those wanting to enjoy the benefits of both worlds should look at the C1+ series as those cameras also provide active cooling and the ability to attach an external filter wheel, whilst featuring a smaller, nearly round shape, convenient (,but not limited to) to use with a Hyperstar system or Celestron RASA telescopes...
One of the benefits of the C2 series is the MECHANICAL SHUTTER function, so that you don't have to close the telescope to be able to take darks. This is especially handy and important if you are running a remote controlled telescope.
The C4 series will bring exciting cameras with large sensor size for serious amateur astronomers and scientific research. Other exotic features will also be presented soon.

1 Active cooling requires 12V DC power. Only fan operates frm USB power, but at a lower speed.
2 Camera head contains connector to control filter wheel, but filter wheel operation requires 12V DC power.
3 There are special M42x0.75, M48x0.75, Canon EOS and Nikon adapters for C1 line.
