What is a Barlow lens?
In most cases Barlow lenses are being used for multiplying the original focal length of the telescope, thus allowing observations at higher magnification with the same eyepiece.
This can be very handy when observing the planets or features of the Moon.
Also, if you have a range of eyepieces then buying a Barlow lens may be the cheapest way of expanding the range of available focal lengths or the resultant magnifications.
