Optolong DEO-Tech OWL Canon EF Lens to Sony E-mount Drop-In Filter Adapter (Filter Drawer) with 1 x M48 (2") Filter Holder

The OWL Drop-in Filter Adapter from DEO-Tech adapts a Canon EF lens to a Sony camera with an E mount. This adapter can mount onto any Canon EF lens; including ultra-wide, fisheye or telephoto lenses, but bear in mind, there are no electrical contacts, so you will have to manually focus the lens.

The DEO-Tech OWL adapter is a very convenient and safe way of using your expensive standard 2" astronomy filters, like UHC, CLS, CLS CCD, L-PRO, H-Alpha or others with a compact system camera, like a Sony a7, a6000, a6300, a6500 or similar...

At the moment we only sell this version, in the future there is a possibility that we'll import other lens/camera combinations as well...

Standard 2" filters come with an M48 filter thread, so these filters can be screwed into the filter holder of this adapter.

This product does not come with filters, but compatible with 2" filters (those with M48 thread), one of the standard sizes in astronomy....

Bear in mind that some 2" filters might have a very tall filter cell. Those filters will be not compatible. A customer advised us that the 2458291 Baader U-filter 2" (Venus filter) fits this adapter, although very tight. Otherwise, all 2" Optolong filters are compatible.

It comes with one M48 (2") filter holder.

We use one of these kits in our own observatory with an Optolong L-PRO filter and an Astronomik 6nm H-alpha filter, which we find to be a very good combination for large nebulosities, like Orion nebula, bernard's loop etc.

One of the benefits is that it attaches to the rear of the lens instead of the front, eliminating the need for different size filters for different lenses. You can even use a filter with lenses that would be not possible otherwise, due to the shape of the front of the lens, i.e. fish eye lenses. This adapter can also be used to protect the image sensor from dust, water and oil; just attach it to the camera mount and insert a filter into it.

Images are for demonstration only. Camera, camera lenses and filters are not included.

What's in the box:

  • 1 x DEO Sony E-mount to Canon EF-mount
  • 1 x DEO Tripod Adapter
  • 1 x DEO-Optolong Drop-in 48mm Filter Holder

Additional M48 or M52 filter holders can be purchased separately.
