When you want to take pictures to wide field objects, we suggest to use cameras (such as cooled CCD or DSLR cameras) with large sensors. For example, to record extended objects like the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) with refractors with not too high focal length, we recommend a sensor with at least 20mm diagonal. 

However, using these sensors, you must pay attention to field curvature, an optical effect that leads to the image distortion towards the edges of the field. The Deluxe 1x field flattener for triplet refractors, connected in the focuser before the camera, perfectly flatten the field even with large sensors (up to Full Frame sensors with 23x16mm dimensions) allowing you to record perfect pictures!


You can order this field flattener with, on camera side, a T2 thread (M42x0,75) or a M48 thread (48x0,75 male) to connect CCD or DSLR cameras. This field flattener, to work at its best, needs you to place the camera's sensor at 60mm from the field flattener rear thread. On the telescope side, you can also find a M48 thread to connect 50,8mm filters: in this way you can simply add a filter, for example for reduction of light pollution.
