AT1 Aluminium Tripod from Astrotrac with M10 and 3/8"x16 central bolts

The AstroTrac AT1 aluminium tripod provides a solid platform for your AstroTrac TT320X.

As a general guide, the lighter the camera or telescope mounted on the TT320X, the lighter the supporting tripod and tripod head can be.

Shorter focal length lenses and telescopes, providing wide field views, tend to be lighter in weight than longer focal length equipment which provide much smaller fields of view.

For maximum rigidity, the AT1 can be used without the legs extended. Also, a practical advise to hang a sandbag from the middle for maximum stability, especially for heavier equipment.

Depending on how you want to setup your Astrotrac mount, e.g. via the Astrotrac TW3100 mounting wedge or a Manfrotto 410 geared head or something else, you will need an additional adapter to connect it to the tripod that we have now included with this tripod.

It is compatible with the Fornax 10 wedge without any modification (you'll use the supplied M10 bolt).

It is also compatible with the Skywatcher EQ5 or Celestron CG-5 (Advanced GT) mounts, so if you travel and want to take with you the CG-5/EQ5 mount with a small telescope, this is an ideal solution as this tripod is much lighter and smaller than the stainless steel tripod that comes with those telescope mounts.

Just an idea how to make it more heavy duty once you arrived to your destination: fill in a shopping bag with sand and hang it from the central screw of the tripod. It will also help to improve damping down any vibration...

Please note, both the Astrotrac wedge TW3100 and Manfrotto 410 geared head come with a 3/8" standard photo thread, whilst this tripod comes originally with an M10 threaded central fixing screw.
A compatible 3/8" threaded screw and adapter plate is now included in this price to make it compatible with the Astrotrac wedge TW3100 and Manfrotto 410 geared head.

The Skywatcher Star Adventurer Wedge can also be secured to it with the 3/8" threaded screw.

See image below:

Note that the azimuth adjustment spike has been cut back so that its height is few mm, in this way the Astrotrac wedge can be placed on top of the tripod (The Astrotrac wedge has got its own azimuth adjustment system...). There are cut-off sections underneath of the wedge, so we didn't have to cut the spike fully back. In this way the azimuth spike can keep its function when used with a Fornax-10 mount.

The Astrotrac wedge mounted on top of the tripod. WEDGE IS NOT INCLUDED! Note the four washers used to achive the necessary length of the screw. (One washer is supplied with the M10 screw and the other three with the 3/8" large photo screw. Due to the minor difference between M10 and 3/8" , the washers are compatible both ways...)
