This is a 2" sliding filter holder for standard 2" filters.
Can be used for visual observations or photography as well. It gives easier access to the filters than a filter wheel would, however the filters are more exposed to the elements. It really depends on your preference whether you need speedy filter replacement or not.
On the telescope side there is a 2" nosepiese. Note that this cannot be unscrewed as the nosepiece and the housing is made from one piece of metal. On the eyepiece or camera side there is a 50mm thread that is compatible with the included 2" eyepiece holder barrel.
We don't yet have a solution to directly screw in a camera to the back, although it is possible via the eyepiece holder barrel with a 2" nosepiece adapter, however we understand that it might be not ideal for all telescope types and especially not good for telescopes with short back focus, like Newtonians (unless astrograph Newtonians, specifically designed for imaging with long back focus).
Contact us if you wan to attach a camera and we'll try to find a solution (an adapter) to convert that 50mm thread into a M48 or other suitable size...
Optional 2" to 1.25" adapter is available separately. Click here!
I.e. if you use both 1.25" and 2" filters, you might find it useful to buy few of the above adapters... alsternatively, we sell a version of this Sliding Filter Holder (Filter Slider) that comes with a full set of 2" to 1.25" adapters. Click here!
Optical length of the sliding filter holder
Shortest: 18.5mm (plus the length of an adpater if we can find one...)
Longest: 68.5mm with the 2" eyepiece holder barrel
Overall length of the filter holder slider:
325mm
The 2" nosepiece has got a standard 2" filter thread, so two filters could be used simultaneously if necessary.
Installation of the filters.
Back of the filter wheel is being hald in place by 4 hex headed bolts. Allen screw is included to remove the back of the filter wheel and to access the interior.
