Our brand new COOLED version of the ZWO ASI174MM mono CMOS Imaging Camera  allows the sensor to be cooled to 35 - 40 degrees C below ambient temperature!

(We at 365Astronomy have tested it and at 21.5C room temperature the camera temperature went down to -17.5C, which is 39C cooling. We guess that there might be slight differences between various cameras that might also depend on the power source.)

The  1″ sensor size and 5.86 pixel size of the ZWO ASI174 makes it very suitable for long exposure DSO imaging for most telescope.

The high Quantum Efficiency, low read noise and super fast speed of the ASI174 makes this camera a very versatile one that can be used as a planetary imaging, solar imaging (with the necessary front solar filter, of course), lunar imaging and even a very capable deep sky imaging camera. This unsurplussed versatility makes it a very good alternative to more expensive deep sky imagers or planetary imagers.

This camera will mostly be used for imaging the Sun and the Moon with smaller telescopes or even planets with larger telescopes with long focal length, plus now that it comes with active cooling, it can also be used very well for deep sky imaging  up to 1000 seconds exposure time. This monochrome version is recommended for L-RGB or narrow band deep sky photography if you want to get out the best data from your camera and achieve sharp, contrasty deep sky, solar or lunar images, but if you don't want the hassle or cannot spend much time and happy to go for a compromise, simply choose the colour version, the COOLED ZWO ASI174MC.

With this monochrome version, you'll also need a filter wheel and a set of L-RGB filters or H-alpha and OIII filters, and maybe even H-beta and SII filters as well for narrow band astro photography...
